Optimized sight glass solution for extreme operating conditions
An Australian customer from the chemical industry faced a significant problem: Lithium hydroxide attacked conventional sight glasses, causing rapid material degradation.

Lithium hydroxide is a highly alkaline medium with a very high pH value. Our solution was to offer the customer specially designed sight glasses of the type 530A, specifically designed for use in challenging chemical environments.
An additional protective layer made of Fluoroethylene Propylene (FEP) has been integrated, offering exceptional resistance to chemical attacks and protecting the Borosilicate glass from direct media contact.
The sight glasses are equipped with an ANSI flange connection (150 lbs), which simplifies their installation and integration into existing systems. The transition to Type 530A flow sight glasses with FEP protective screens proved to be a successful and sustainable solution.
